Silk Velvet heaven

Jane Blonder's extraordinary silk velvet is now lining one wall of my office - making a wonderfully rich environment to work in.



And she prepared some sample pieces for the storage box lid - my intention is there will be a range of blues/purples - like these.

Calder Cases - pre production shells for the full range

We've taken delivery of pre-production carbon fiber shells for the full Calder range - laptop, violin case, electric guitar, classical guitar and acoustic guitar. We move from models and CAD images to the real thing.

Next step Johan at Viking Saddlery will make and fit the leather outers.

Stig McDonald's Carbon Fiber workshop

Stig McDonald and his team are masters of the black art of hand laying carbon fiber. Having worked on many high profile boat building projects Stig is now diversifying into other areas such as marine turbines...and guitar cases.

Here's Stig's FS Composite Design workshop in Devon - with Keith and Martin final checking our shells.

Jane Blonder - silk lining colour queen

Jane Blonder is a magical fabric artist working from her Eye of the Sun studio in deep countryside near the coast of North Devon.

Jane has created stunning silk velvet linings for the Calder cases. Each piece is hand painted with a mix of dies to give an intensely rich and shimmering effect - the colours changing with the light and angle at which they are viewed.

Jane's studio is an airy space full of light and hung about with sumptuous silks and other fine fabrics.



This is Jane with the main lining material and test samples of contrasting velvet she is creating for the lid of the storage compartment.
