Summer 06 - guitar, violin and laptop case update

The last few months we've been finalising designs for the launch range of Calder cases.

This fall we will be introducing cases for:
violin
acoustic guitar
classical guitar
electric guitar - 2 models: Les Paul type and Strat type
laptop

The designs for guitar cases are all very similar to the electric guitar case we've shown in the last few posts.
The violin case is different - a simple rectangle with the handle the same as on the guitar cases.
The laptop case is a slim rectangle - also with a handle like that on the guitar cases.
All our cases will be made with a carbon fiber shell covered with leather and lined with silk velvet.

At this stage we are releasing only a few images so as to maximise the impact of the launch.

Here are two close ups of a pre-production model of the electric guitar case.

Been planning a DIY case formy DIY guitar for some time now and I find your designs very compelling. Between Incase's ideas and your styling I think I have found all the companies I want to borrow inspiration from. Looking forward to your launch and I wish you great success.

If the laptop case is similar to the guitar case then it would be perfect in these no cabin luggage rules. I'd want to make sure my laptop survives baggage handling whenever I'm forced to check it in.

It would be nice if you'd offer the laptop case with the leather protective lining as well as carbon fiber shell with interior lining only. Marketing wise, people find carbon fiber sexy even if its only function is purely aesthetic (i.e. Alinghi by Nespresso Limited Edition Cube).

It's wonderful to know you're working with Angus Noble. I have the Carbon Infinity View Camera he designed and made a decade ago and it is a wonderful piece of equipment.

I am now convinced that I need a Calder Laptop case. :)

Best of luck and looking forward to the launch of your e-commerce site. I agree it's the way to go knowing that I won't be paying for the mark-up that goes with distribution channels.

Edwin thanks for you interest.

The laptop cases will be built with a carbon fibre shell and leather outer skin. There will be an optional nylon slip case to protect the leather.

For the moment we don't plan to offer a case with the carbon fibre exposed as carbon fibre scratches easily and does not age gracefully like leather.

It is an honour to work with Angus Noble - he is great designer and engineer.

Glad to hear you want one of our cases - keep watching our website for the launch.

Thanks Earl - very glad to hear you like the way the cases have developed.

Its taken three years to get to this point and so it is good to get positive feedback.
